►►[Interview] Lee Byung-hun’s accuser Kwon Mi Yeon speaks up

Lee Byung Hun’s estranged ex-girlfriend, Kwon Mi Yeon (22) was interviewed by Korean online news site, Newsis where she revealed her side of the relationship with the actor.

When did you first meet Lee Byung-hun?

Last year in September. Lee Byung-hun was in Canada to promote the film, “The Good, the Bad and The Weird”…from the first moment, he showed strong interest…even when he flew to New York after leaving Toronto, he kept contacting me. And after New York, he came back to Canada. He said it was to see me. At the time, I thought he really liked me.

What did you like about him?

When Lee Byung-hun wanted to come back to Canada from the U.S., I told him that if he wanted to just have fun for a night, then he should fly straight to Korea. However, he told me that I was special….and because of that, he wanted to see me again. Afterwards, he introduced to his friends, and even invited me to his house…I believed him. He kept his word. If he said he would call at a certain time, he would.

So Lee Byung-hun invited you to visit Korea and you came?

Last year in October, he send the plane fare to my mother’s account and told me to visit him in Korea. So in November, I visited Korea. For 10 days I stayed with Lee Byung-hun at his home in Bundang. He introduced me to his family and friends as his girlfriend. I hung out with his mother and sister…and went out drinking and traveling with his friends. That year at the end of December to January 2009, we spent the holidays in Las Vegas at M hotel. Also, he invited me to go to Las Vegas with him again in April.

So why did you leave everything behind to live in Korea?

Lee Byung-hun introduced me to his friends and family and acted as if we were going to get married. His Japanese sponsor, Mr A told me that if I live in Korea, I can go to university there. Lee Byung-hun told me to move to Korea and that he promised that he will take care of everything. I moved to Korea with the blessing of my mother.

What about the demand for 2 billion won?

Who started the demands, I don’t know. But everything is being processed through the courts. I have the evidence.

How was life after moving to Korea?

I moved last July. At first, I lived in a 24 pyung apartment in Jamsil with a 1 year lease. However, Mr A told me that he can no longer help. And in September, I was kicked out of the apartment. And Lee Byung-hun started to act strange when I moved to Korea. After I moved out of the apartment, LBH got me a place for 10 million deposit at 700,000 won rent a month in Bongcheon-dong. Afterwards, I didn’t hear from him. I called him and he wouldn’t answer. Now, I am staying with a friend. The place in Bongcheon-dong is too scary so I moved out.

Relationship between men and woman can break up…

Sure. However, the breakup was different. We did not break up, he threw me away. And without reason. I cannot speak Korean that well and the culture is different. And to think that I was just a sex partner makes me feel angry.

Lee Byung-hun is being sued by Kwon for 100 million won for defamation.

T/N: It’s obvious that the girl wants to get back at the actor for dumping her instead of marrying her. And she never said that he would marry her-she just assumed he would since he introduced her to his friends and family. Doesn’t she know that a guy, especially one with money, will say and do anything to get what he wants? For goodness sakes, the man is 39 and has been around the block more than once (we assume). He is obviously just taking advantage of the girl and playing on her hopes of hooking a big fish with a fat wallet.

it’s sad that this “celebrity” who’s name is not even recognizable in North America, thinks he can just treat women like this. If he is this big celebrity in Korea, then he should also be a role model and not use women as he pleases. Regardless of whether or not he wanted to marry her or not, he shouldn’t have lead her on, and made her leave Canada for him.

    • What has ‘his not recognized in North America’ gotta do with it? Because he is a celebrity and big in Korea this girl feels that she has the right to air her dirty laundry to the media. She’s clearly doing it for the money.

No women should be treated like that but how are we to know that she is telling the truth? To me she comes across as a crazy ex-girlfriend who can’t get over the break up.

It really makes him looks inresponsible for a 39 yr old mature man to initiate a break out without a “proper” conversation with the girl.I kind of disappointed with his behaviour.

I’m sorry, but this woman is an idiot.
I understand that it was wrong of him to lure her in like that, but some responsibility needs to be placed on her as well.
He’s a super-star. Did she actually think he would marry her?
Why would you move all the way to Korea for some fling. She sounds like an air-head, no wonder he easily “took advantage.”
It just so stupid. And now she’s ruining both their reputations by stirring up this scandal.

I totally agree with you. This girl is not being realistic.
Even if you got dumped by a man, get yourself together and move on. She has no self respect and she’s just after his money. What a pathetic looser!

Lee at 39 being a superstar and having so many fans, should act with ethics and responsibility for his position, he has crossed the ethical line and as become a bad example for the public. Society is built on ethics and he should be the one to role model it, instead taking advantage of a young 22 year old girl is certainly not right from his side, even if she is wrong he should not have used her.

Lee is a buddhist, he should not have advanced till he wanted to commit to her… though this looks ok now a days its against buddhist principle’s whether he come out clean or not,he has not followed the buddhist life for this he has to work on his weakness, by seeking knowledge and wisdom from buddhist monks and help himself transform to a good life. becoming a superstar is lot more easier than living a life of prinicples and goodness. The real challenge lies in living a ethical life in any circumstance.. hope he takes this challenge and proves himself in this domain.

Seriously that woman is a fool. Dumping is common in relationships and she has NO evidence that he intended to marry her. She just interpreted things that way and it was her fault in doing so. Lee Byung Hwon seriously did not do that much wrong.

LBH has done NOTHING wrong. The woman is just being a fool; she doesn’t know what she’s saying. She’s just mad at him and she’s saying things that are not even true. She’s the one who misunderstood things. So LBH is the victim and he did NOT use her. Even if he did or whatsoever, she has no evidence that he did and what she’s saying might be not true at all.

I don’t understand the scandal… They just got together and it didn’t work out. So that’s the end of it. I don’t get the suing business, how embarrassing for her. She is a young adult and surely knows what relationship means, sometimes plans fall through… I believe one should take responsibility for their own actions and decisions. Deal with your emotions girl…

  12. Mr. Speaker

First of all, none of you know jack shit about what went on between the two of them to formulate a valid opinion, for or against LBH. But in all seroiusness, who gives a twat? Instead of crying foul play, why not worry about your own lives? ^^

People please… this is LBH, not some wanna be actor in the next block. What needs does he have of luring some one in to have sex with him? He can get any girl he wishes, as I bet a bunch of girls are after him and his big fat wallet. If he introduced her to his family, he liked her enough to be in a serious relationship. A guy would never introduce you to his mother or sister if he doesn’t really like you… have some common sense for God sake… you all sound like the girl, such an idiot. And if the girl is telling the entire truth, then he would have been advised to settle with her and not take it any further. The fact that he is fighting back is because IT IS NOT TRUE. Plus… hahaha, people get into relationships, and then later feel nothing more is there and brake up. He helped her by giving her money, she should have gone back to her Canada.
Maybe he realized she was after his money. Who knows what really went on? Where you there? lol. As a fan of the actor, all I can do is support him whether is true or not, I believe in him until proven that is absolutely his fault. At this point, we don’t know yet.
What kind of girl leaves everything behind to go live in some strange country to her, just because a celebrity (your dear boyfriend) told you to do it. Maybe he was testing her character and found her to be immature, which she is showing to be.

I agree with Mr. Speaker… but couldn’t stay quiet enough to not write my own thoughts :p
