Rain to sue for slander

With regards to an embezzlement lawsuit filed against him recently, Rain has denied the accusations and could be filing a countersuit for slander instead.

According to J.Tune on the 15th, “The lawsuit filed by Mr. Lee, an owner of a fabric company on the 6th at the Seoul Central Prosecutors’ Office claimed that Rain and 7 other shareholders had used J.Tune Creative to embezzle his investment money to the tune of 2 billion won. But Rain was not involved with the company and he was just a model and designer.”

J.Tune added, “Mr. Lee is falsely accusing Rain and we will be assisting the prosecution to get to the bottom of this matter quickly. We are not ruling out the possibility of filing a counter-suit against Mr.Lee for slander against Rain.”

J.Tune only said Rain is not involved at all with the operations of this subsidiary so perhaps there is really someone embezzling money afterall. Let’s hope that investigators can find something to solve this mess and clear Rain’s name.

Are idols working too much?

150 years ago, the average American worker worked over 3000 hours annually. Today that number has dropped to around 1777 hours annually. South Korea is known for it’s hard workers as South Korea has the longest working hours amongst the high-income OECD economies at just under 2400 hours annually. It seems idols in Korea fit this trend as they also work many hours annually.

“Are idols working all year long?“

This has been popping into the heads of many fans lately and it seems that there’s enough evidence on the k-pop scene to support this thought.

From the early 1990’s to around 2002, it was rare to see idols work so much. When an idol group or singer ended their live promotions, it was difficult to see the artists until their next comeback. That is now obviously not the case with the proliferation of the internet and increase of technology. In addition, members from idol groups continue to stay in the media long after their promotions have ended.

For example, Big Bang has been busy promoting like crazy in Japan and yet T.O.Pfound the time to star in the spy action drama IRIS. Now the group is in production for their comeback later this year and the fierce rapper is still acting as he will star in the film 71-Into the Fire.

After closing their promotions, most idol groups make their comebacks within a month or two but The Brown Eyed Girls are one of the special cases as they’ve stayed low key since their last single Sign. Even so, both Ga-In and Narsha are keeping busy with reality programs We Got Married and Invincible Youth, respectively. Not to mention that both girls are busy in production for their solo debuts!

2AM is currently in the midst of live promotions but ssanti leader Jo Kwon has been appearing on the show We Got Married opposite of Ga-In as a fictional married couple. Seulong has also just begun his acting career through the new dramaPersonal Taste.

2PM is also busy with Taecyeon appearing on Family Outing as a regular and also starring on the new hit drama Cinderella’s SisterWooyoungNichkhun andChansung are also busy in the media. They also have a comeback coming soon as well.

BEAST also had their fair share of hard working members as Doo Joon was in Kenya with the Danbi team and Gi kwang had starred in the hit sitcom Hick Kick Through The Roof.

Of course these are only a few examples of idols in the media.

Years ago, most idol groups had only 3 to 5 members. Now there’s a growing trend where many have 7 or more members (ie. Super JuniorSNSDU-KISSAfter School etc.). Fans speculate that because there are so many members in a group, the companies compensate for the “impersonal feel” by having them appear on various programs. To get to know these idols better, all year long the idols appear on variety and reality programs and expand their careers from music into television and movie acting. But even through the craze of it all our favorite idols seem to keep on smiling and laughing, thankful for the opportunities that come their way.

There’s some with the mentality of “Hard Work Never Killed Anybody” and there’s others with “Hard Work Never Killed Anybody… but why try?” What do you guys think, should the idols take it down a notch or continue to do as they do as long as they’re happy?

TVXQ’s Jaejoong, Yoochun, Junsu forms a new group in Japan!

We know how messy the situation is at the present moment between SM Entertainment and the wantaway TVXQ trio ofJaejoongYoochunJunsu.

Having announced earlier this month that TVXQ willpause/stop group activities in Japan and focus on solo activities, many fans were noticeably crushed by this.

But there was some sort of reprieve for fans as Avex Japan made a big announcement on April 14th that they had signed an exclusive contract with Jaejoong, Yoochun, Junsu and they will be working together as a group. And to show their appreciation, the trio will be performing for fans in a concert titledTHANKSGIVING LIVE IN DOME over two June weekends

June 12 – 13th @ Tokyo Dome

Happy or sad that the inevitable has happened?

Hyori is keeping an eye on SNSD’s Yuri and 2NE1’s CL

At a press conference held on the 13th in celebration of her 4th album’s release, Lee Hyori was asked “Which girl group hoobae are you eyeing?” Without hesitation, the Queen of K-pop answered, SNSD’s Yuri and 2NE1’s CL, two members from the nation’s top girl groups.

Regarding Yuri, Hyori stated, “It was like seeing myself in the past. I watched SNSD’s concert and Yuri’s solo performance was impressive. During the Fin.K.L days, I, too, performed a solo performance at the concert and received attention from the music industry shortly thereafter. I have seen Yuri sing solo before and I think she is capable of succeeding as a solo artist.”

Regarding CL, Hyori stated, “She possesses a powerful aura that no one else has had until now. Her originality and charm are something that cannot be easily found in Korea. As opposed to being a pretty and sexy singer, her powerful singing and rapping skills will lead her to become a major figure in the music industry.”

Hyori added, “The featured artists in my album, 4minute’s Jiyoon and After School’sBekah, are friends that I have already stamped my approval on.”

Hyori also did not forget to lend a few words of advice to all the idols undergoing promotional activities. “As you receive training, you perform as much as you are taught. For now, you do as you are told by the management company, but once the contract ends, you will be all alone. If you do not learn to become independent, you may end up in a situation similar to that of an orphan who lost his/her parents.”

It must be an honor for Yuri and CL to be praised by the Queen of K-pop herself. Her observations are right on point too; Yuri and CL are both a popular favorite among the domestic and international crowd. With Yuri’s sex appeal and down-to-earth personality and CL’s natural charisma on and off stage, the future ahead looks bright for the two of them.

Rain issues a $2 million dollar lawsuit

Looks like Rain isn’t out of the legal storm yet – although he won his last lawsuit, the idol is now involved in another lawsuit worth 2 billion won (~$2 million USD). Rain and seven other investors are all suing J.Tune Creative for embezzling the investment they put into the company, meaning that Rain, fortunately, isn’t the one under fire this time around.

It’s been revealed through Newsen that Rain & seven investors of J. Tune Creative, the fashion design company of Rain’s company J.Tune Entertainment, are pressing charges of embezzlement (fraudulent use of funds) against the company through the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office. As J. Tune Creative is a part of J. Tune Entertainment, it seems that this is an internal company dispute regarding a certain group of staff misusing funds.

One of the investors, who identified as Lee, said through the prosecutors, “In 2008, we invested 2 billion won in J.Tune Creative for the fashion business purpose and looked at it as a loss. Of the registered fees, Rain and I as well as others paid 2.5 billion won [for the company and] the model fees of Rain … Two billion won was embezzled.

J.Tune Entertainment said, “We are finding out more details about the complaint right now.”

Stay tuned as we continue to explore this matter.

A.N.Jell gets their very own official website

Despite You’re Beautiful ending its run last December and A.N.Jell being just a fictitious band (although many wished that it was for real), fans can’t seem to get enough of the drama and its leading cast members like Jang Geun Suk, Park Shin Hye, Jung Yonghwa and Lee Hong Ki.

And to satisfy the fans, an official website for A.N.Jell was revealed in the past week before being officially unveiled to the public on April 12th.

The website actually crashed when it opened for beta testing on the 6th as 30,000 fans got wind of this and started hitting the website at the same time. It was however repaired in time to handle the heavy traffic before its official opening yesterday.

There are sorts of information about A.N.Jell like their profile, album, schedules, etc information and it is a definite visit for any hardcore fan of the drama.

They may be busy with their own individual activities now but who knows, they might just get back together one day on stage or maybe film season 2.

Sooyoung has a crush on Daesung?

There’s been so much information coming out about the new SBS pilot program HahaMong Show and I’m sure every little tidbit is making you get really excited.

To increase more hype, It has been revealed that SNSD’s Sooyoung wants to get closer to Big Bang’s Daesung.

Sooyoung said, “I think it’s very brave for a female idol to admit that Big Bang is their ideal type. All SNSD members wants to get closer with Daesung. When I saw him get close to Taeyeon on Family Outing, I got really jealous.”

I’m sure Daesung started to blush as he heard this. Daesung replied in kind, “I got a good vibe from her in the dressing room.”

Why does every female idol love Daesung?

KARA’s Jiyoung, T-ara’s Eunjung, the Brown Eyed Girls and now all of SNSD (except Tiffany probably)? Daesung should take advantage of this chance.

►►Rainbow’s Hyun Young sings Beyonce’s ‘If I Were a Boy’

Rainbow’s maknae Jo Hyun Young recently made a cover for one of Beyonce’s many hit singles.

Singing If I Were a Boy, which describes what it would feel like to love a girl from a boy’s perspective, Hyun Young harbored an emotional and mournful tone in her voice that accurately conveyed the message of the stunning ballad.

Although there were a few shaky moments here and there, Hyun Young displayed her wide vocal range and strong singing ability. She may be the maknae of a 7-member girl group, but her vocal performance was powerful and mature.
