►►Half of Lee Hyori’s ‘H-Logic’ songs face plagiarism accusations

This is some serious business Kpop diva Hyori is facing…to my surprise this time, some of the songs sound EXACTLY THE SAME (or they’re basically the same song) 😦

Hyori’s composer, Bahnus, seems to be pulling all the right stops for the singer… towards a bad reputation. Bahnus helped compose seven songs for Hyori’s H-Logic album, and of those, six are questionably plagiarized.

What makes these cases so striking is that no where in the album credit, did M.Net Media acknowledge that these songs were sampled.

Sampling is taking a portion of the sound recording and using it for a different song. To prevent legal actions and accusations of plagiarism, artists who want to use the sampled clips must first and foremost obtain authorization from the original artist before they are able to sample.

Of the six accusations, one of the songs is confirmed to be plagiarized. A girl group from Canada known as Cookie Couture released their song “Boy, Bring it Back” in 2008 and Hyori released her version, “Bring it Back” this year.

After finding out that Hyori plagiarized their song, Cookie Couture member Stacey Maroske released a statement on

“I was shocked when I first heard Lee Hyori’s 2010 recording. I couldn’t believe how similar the song was. It’s almost an exact replica, even down to our vocal riff’s. I mean we worked really hard as a group to write this song and perfect it back in 2008. It just seems really unfair that this song is being sold on iTunes by an artist who has stolen the song from us. It’s plagiarism, and we hope we see justice.”

To add fuel to the flame, none of Hyori’s representatives could be reached to comment on the accusation.

Zack Taylor from Toronto’s radio station Kiss 92.5
said Cookie Couture hired a lawyer to go after Hyori. According to Taylor, he tried to contact Hyori on Twitter and she blocked him. There is no verification if Hyori even has an official Twitter account.

Cooke Couture owns the entire song “Boy, Bring it Back.”

Although it is unclear as to who Cookie Couture will be suing, it looks as though Hyori could be facing a major blow to her career.

Lee JaeYoung also known as Bahnus is the leader of the group Bahnus Vacuum. He apparently he gave 180 songs to Hyori to pick from. In the past, he has worked with British artists. It appears that Maxwell, Whitney Houston, Beyonce and other artists have asked to work with him.

This is sad. Didn’t hyori said she took a long time to pick all songs? Guess she needs to listen to more non-korean songs next time.

After, what, 10 years in the business, she should know better by now. Besides, it’s not like the Annie Lennox sample is an obscure one. After the last 2 albums, has neither she nor her company looked up plagiarism laws? The Annie Lennox, again, is right out. A big music exective would know of Annie Lennox, she’s been huge in music for DECADES now and her voice is distinct. Hell, this is the same company who had the balls to give Ms. Lee a song to release that was barely a year old by one of the best known (not best singing) pop stars in the freakin’ world! On top of that, couldn’t they have picked a better song than ‘Do Somethin’ to plagiarise? That song (and ‘Get Ya’) both sucked! At least get plagiarise a good song!

    stupid people!
Hyori didn’t steal all 7 tracks from her album, it’s not her fault! it’s BAHNUS fault because he’s the one that fooling her to pick up some songs that’s why BAHNUS is an idiot! He’s already been arrested/caught… too bad, Hyori is not on her former record company, she has her own… so leave her alone, she didn’t do anything wrong, so it’s not her fault! =P

PS. Cookie Couture’s version is bad! They can’t sing better!!! So Hyori’s version is way better than Cookie Couture ‘cos Hyori is so good at it!!! I’m not a fan of Cookie Couture nor never heard of their Canadian music…

  16. even i’m not korean but i like hyori so much after heard Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and being called as Lady Gaga version Asia i was amazed with here talent.

so bad n sympathy to her due the cases of plagiarism i guess i agreed with Vee opinion up there… anyway it would be non plagiarism if it mention using some other material from other artist’s like Madonna in her album Bedtime Stories (1994) also using some sample i guess in future Hyori should open to experiments like her H-Logic so STUNNING i just adore them!

anyway Hyori delivered better then original singer in any songs she sang very well so i would like to Congratulated her to that…

anyway dont be sad “this the way of the world”..

i just wonder if she could colobrated with my favorite artist Cathy Dennis that wrote Toxic – Britney Spears, Can’t Get Of My Head – Kylie Minogue, i think Hyori gonna BLOW everyone mind of this entire Earth Planets…

    Go Hyori Go Hyori..
